WAIKERIE ROCK 'N' ROLL FESTIVAL 4-6 May Kick up your heels at this riverside festival celebrating all things rock ‘n’ roll. During the day there will be dance demonstrations, a street parade, live music and markets for the whole family. CLARE VALLEY GOURMET WEEKEND 5-6 May Australia’s oldest gourmet weekend is a celebration of wine, food and music. Twenty wineries throughout the region will be serving up real country feasts for breakfast, lunch and dinner. As always, live music will be a key Gourmet Weekend ingredient. Expect everything from swing to rock, classical to jazz. Other highlights include the Vintage Tasting, which offers a unique opportunity to sample more than 120 unreleased Clare Valley wines at various stages of the winemaking process. COME OUT! 2007 7-19 May The Australian Festival for Young People presents the biennial Come Out! –Australia’s largest and longest running arts festival for children and young people in the Southern Hemisphere. Come Out! is based in South Australia and aims to involve all young people as audiences and creators of theatre, dance, comedy, visual arts, music, literature and new media and to cross all arts forms. The Chocolate and Nut Festival is a wonderful excuse to head to the Adelaide Hills and enjoy it in all its Autumnal glory this month. Enjoy free tastings from confectioners around the state as well as an interesting selection of nuts and dried fruits from local producers. WILD BOAR WEEKEND 12-13 May The Flinders Ranges might be a long way from the city, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy gourmet food, great wine and entertainment while you’re there. The Wild Boar Weekend is a two-day party during which visitors can enjoy the fruits of the Southern Flinders Ranges’ boutique wineries and farms. KERNEWEK LOWENDER 14-20 May It’s a lot more than just the thousands of (delicious) Cornish pasties on offer that entices 80,000 people to the Copper Coast every two years for Kernewek Lowender. The world’s largest Cornish festival is a week-long celebration jam-packed with cultural, culinary and educational events. Watch as hundreds of children perform the ‘Furry Dance’ through the streets of Kadina, observe a traditional ceremony in which blue-robed bards speak in the Cornish language, indulge yourself with delectable local seafood at the Fisherman’s Wharf, kick up your heels at an old-style dance, or just grab one of those Cornish pasties, take a stroll and soak up the atmosphere.
