This is one of Australia’s most respected music festivals – and definitely one of its coolest. Over three late summer days and nights, groove to global beats in the splendour of Botanic Park. Discover new music as artists from around the globe come together on six stages to discuss, teach and share their art. Explore the crafts on display at the WOMAD Global Village, indulge in delicious food or kick back on the lawn and soak in the party atmosphere.

BIRD IN HAND CONCERT SERIES
9 March 2008
Come experience the inaugural Bird in Hand Concert Series in the Adelaide Hills, featuring Australian songstress, Pot-Pourri, who will give an enchanting performance under the setting sun with highlights from Figaro to Phantom, Les Miserables, Carmen, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and much more. For $120 per head receive admission, enjoy a gourmet selection from Lucia’s Fine Foods served with selected Bird in Hand Wines from 6.30pm, followed by cheese platters and chocolates during interval, prime concert seating and a meeting with the artists after the show. For $50 per head, receive admission, and feel free to set up a rug or deck chairs on the lawns. ADELAIDE FRINGE 2008

Open your mind and take in some culture, while enjoying the party atmosphere the Adelaide Fringe creates right across the city. Held every two years, the Adelaide Fringe is the second largest fringe festival in the world (after the Edinburgh Fringe). It’s super hip and very funky. Anything goes with performances by independent artists from all over the world: theatre, comedy, dance, visual arts, film, video, music and multi-media shows are all a part of the Fringe party.

OAKBANK EASTER RACING CARNIVAL

There’s a simple reason why this country racing carnival is the biggest of its type in the world: it’s so much fun. SWATCH FIVB BEACH VOLLEY WORLD TOUR

Adelaide's most popular beach destination, Glenelg Beach will play host to the Adelaide Australia Open where a 3000-seat stadium will be constructed on Moseley Square with outside courts along the Glenelg foreshore. Not only is the Adelaide Australia Open a SWATCH FIVB Beach Volley World Tour event it is also a qualification event for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and with the likes of Olympians Natalie Cook, Andrew Schacht and Josh Slack competing as well as representatives from over 25 countries, the Adelaide Australia Open will be an event not to be missed.

BUNNY HUNT IN MINTARO MAZE

Enjoy the folk sounds of the Fiddle Chicks when they perform at the Alexandrina Cheese Company Dairy Farm. The band consists of three talented local musicians, Kim, Dee and Emma, who arrange and produce songs with just three fiddles and voice. The Fiddle Chicks have recently won Most Outstanding Act and Most Outstanding CD release at the 2007 South Australian Folk Awards. Last year they were named Most Outstanding Emerging Act, and violinist Emma was voted Most Outstanding Instrumentalist for the second year running.

The Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus will perform John Stainer's major work, Crucifixion. The Chorus will be conducted by Aldis Sils, accompanied by Peter Kelsall on the Cathedral organ and will feature soloists, Robert McFarlane (tenor) and Lachlan Scott (bass). Stainer's Crucifixion is a favourite of church and professional choirs, is known for its melodic lines and includes well-loved hymns. ELFIN MAGIC: A SPELLBINDING SA SUCCESS STORY

PRINCES CONTEMPORARY ART SHOW

The Annual Princes Contemporary Art Show is an Adelaide Fringe event held at Prince Alfred College attracting interest from South Australia's leading emerging contemporary artists such as Sylvio Apponyi, John George, Jen Penglase, Andrea Przygonski and Robert Habel - and collectors. The Cocktail Party on Friday March 14 will include the official opening by Comedian Ben Darsow, and this year, 5AN Radio Personality and art valuer, David Kabbani will conduct an antique road show style appraisal of general public collectibles on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March.
